Uma's famous dad Robert Thurman spoke at UBC in April last year. He is a Buddhist scholar and a particularly entertaining speaker. A healthy dose of humor in this one.
I post sporadically and often in bursts. This is more of an archive of material that I find interesting rather than a diarist's blog. The blog itself is my "best of" selection of podcasts and vodcasts mainly from the ABC but also covering other sources. There's material here that deals with the creative arts, science, philosophy and religion. The most obvious thing that links the stuff that I post here is intellectual and/or creative rigour. Other more tangental connections come from thinking about how this material informs my critical and creative practice. More info about my art-making can be found here.
I post a lot of videos here that have no indispensable visual content. Generally I recommend turning off your screens and listening to these videos. They make all kinds of housework more stimulating as well as adding a bit of intellectual spice to your daily exercise routine. Whenever I can, I link to downloadable audio for the podcasts that I post here. This obviously opens up all sorts of portable options for engaging with this material. Activities that might have synergistic effect when combined with your listening include; commuting, digging in the garden, sitting in the sun, cooking, clipping your toenails or taking a bath.
